Insurance Verification & Oral Surgery Care

We understand that health insurance plans can vary significantly in cost and coverage for every patient. It can be stressful or confusing when making healthcare decisions. At Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery we believe you deserve the best oral surgery care, regardless of network status.

Sky Davison-Leming is a billing specialist for us at Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery. Today she answers a few insurance questions that patients frequently have.  Sky leads our experienced team of billing specialists in helping each patient navigate the insurance process and receive the best care oral surgery care.

“Do You Take My Insurance?”

One of the most common questions we get from a patient is, “Do you take my insurance?” This is an important question to ask¬, as there are many benefits in choosing an in-network provider for your health care needs. However, your insurance coverage should never dictate your medical care decisions.

What does it mean when a provider is “in-network” with an insurance company?

Sandhills is currently in-network with a variety of dental & medical insurance companies. These were carefully selected by Dr. Weber and our Sandhills team to best serve the patients in our community. We evaluated many factors, including quality of protection and available coverage in our area.  But what does it mean when a provider is “in-network” with an insurance company? The short answer is that when a facility and/or provider agrees to participate in a health plan’s network of providers - they negotiate a reduced fee for services.

What if I have an insurance plan that Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery is not contracted with?

In addition to the insurance companies we are in-network with, Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery also accepts a variety of other insurance plans! Our Billing Specialists at Sandhills are happy to provide estimates and process your insurance claims, regardless of our network status. The only insurance plans that we do not accept are Medicare & Medicaid.

So, what if you have an insurance plan that Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery is not contracted with? That’s okay! For our patients with out-of-network insurance plans, we provide the same time and care in verifying benefits as we do for in-network patients. Rather than using the discounted in-network negotiated fee, we estimate out-of-network coverage using our own fees.

Our Verification Process

Our dedicated Insurance and Billing Specialists at Sandhills Oral & Facial Surgery take the time to reach out to each insurance company directly and obtain a verification of benefits prior to services being rendered. We use this verification to appropriately customize your treatment estimate. For more on how treatment estimates are calculated, stay tuned for our next blog post! As always, feel free to reach out to our Insurance and Billing team for questions or concerns regarding insurance plans and coverage.
